Circle of Henry Bone, Gaston Duc d’Orleans
£750
SOLD
Enamel on Copper; inscribed reverse; in period frame; entire 9 by 8 ins; 23 x 20 cm.
Provenance: Private Collection, Sussex, England
The style of this portrait is very similar to the work of Henry Bone (1755-1834) England’s greatest enamellist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. So close in approach to the master that it probably is an example of someone working in his studio. Typical of his historic subject matter it is a portrait of the brother of Louis XIII depicted around 1630.
