A pair of late 19th century gourd vases, decorated with aubergine and turquoise glazes.
The aubergine glaze dominating this pair of double gourd vases, used to be called ‘brown purple glaze’. In this example, the vases are decorated with stylised foliage that has been applied with a turquoise glaze to add sculptural effect.
