A 19th Century Regency Period Steel Fender

£795

SOLD

An early 19th century Regency Period polished steel fire fender, with pierced decorations and applied rosettes.

This polished steel fender has a pure form, typical of Regency Period design. The pierced frieze with applied rosettes are the only surface ornamentation. It would have most probably guarded the floor in front of a register grate of similar design. Today these remain popular for decorative and practical purposes as they maintain the safety of a room through Georgian style.
