A late 18th century blue and white porcelain vase, of baluster form, decorated throughout with stylised prunus blossoms and symbols of longevity upon cracked ice.
Traditionally, the Chinese strive for three main goals in life: personal happiness (fú 福), professional prosperity (lù 禄) and longevity (shòu 寿); the latter being depicted as a symbol on this vase. Other emblems of longevity include peaches, tortoises, pine trees, spotted deer and cranes.
Qing Dynasty – Kangxi Period (1662-1722)
Condition: Hairline in base and rim.
