A Pair of 19th Century Ormolu Mounted Turquoise Porcelain Vases by Samson
£2,400
SOLD
A fine pair of late 19th century Samson porcelain vases and covers, having turquoise glazes and mounted with ormolu finials, rims and bases.
Samson of Paris was one of the finest Porcelain producers in Europe, specialising in replacements of missing parts and reproductions of original artworks. Though they remain in business today, it is early Samson wares that have become very valuable collectables today. They excel in craftsmanship, colour and form and are so finely crafted that they are often hard to tell apart from their original counterparts. While their repertoire included the reproduction of Meissen, Chelsea, Derby and Sèvres designs, their main focus and success lay in Asian ceramics.
