A late 19th century blue and white porcelain jar of bulbous form, the body decorated with prunis blossoms upon a ‘cracked ice’ ground, the shapes cartouches decorated with the ‘hundred antiques’ design.
The vase has an associated carved wooden cover.
The design known as ‘Hundred Antiques’ is a collection of miscellaneous pieces consisting of the the Four Treasures, the Eight Treasures symbols of the Fine Arts (music, chess, calligraphy, and painting) alongside many conventional representations of flowers, animals, sacrificial vessels to name some of the most popular symbols incorporated.
