A pair of Directoire style bedside tables, each with an overhanging top above a single drawer and an aperture, the sides with fielded panels, all supported upon square tapering legs.
These Directoire style bedside tables have a beautifully mellowed patina, the colour of which combines well with virtually any interior. The grain of the walnut is a very popular one due to its subtle contours. The paneling on the sides and the front is inspired by architecture.
On the whole the pair is restrained in decoration as well as ornamentation which is one of the most significant characteristics of the Directoire Period.
Placed upon the bedside tables is a pair of Regency Period lustres, English, circa 1825. Ref 0709.
