A charming 20th century pale walnut silver table in the Queen Anne taste, of rectangular form, the dished top above a frieze having a single drawer with a roundel of seaweed marquetry, all raised on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.
Stamped Gill & Reigate
The firm of Gill & Reigate was founded in 1899. By 1901 it was trading from 85 Oxford Street, London. they described themselves as ‘Dealers in Antique & Modern Furniture, Artistic Decorators and Upholsterers’. Gill & Reigate were decorators to King George V. The firm appears to have traded until 1958, when they had premises at Arlington House, Arlington Street.
From 1915-1920 Gill & Reigate were engaged on the restoration and furnishing of Sulgrave Manor, under the direction of the eminent architect Sir Reginald Blomfield.
