A set of four mid-twentieth century bamboo armchairs, the horseshoe backs with intricate scrollwork decoration, raised upon legs with conjoining stretchers. Together with squab cushion seats.
These chairs show stylistic influence of the suites of Chinese Export bamboo furniture made at at the beginning of the nineteenth century for the great chinoiserie rooms of houses such as the Brighton Pavilion, England, built by John Nash for The Prince Regent.
