An Upholstered Long Stool or Ottoman

£2,500

SOLD

A mahogany upholstered long stool, the frame supported upon turned mahogany legs terminating in solid brass castors with spoked wheels.

This long stool or window seat has been made in the William IV style. The turned legs are an English form from the 1830s and the heavy brass castors with their finely pierced wheels were first employed by cabinet makers at the end of the Regency Period. It has been re-upholstered using traditional techniques and the linen fabric is fixed with brass nails in the traditional manner.

Long stools such as this would work well at the end of a bed, or as a window seat or Ottoman in a drawing room.
