A rare early nineteenth century beechwood low red leather upholstered seat, the frame of pale birchwood, with bar back and raised on turned legs.
This most unusual low seat can be dated to the early decades of the 19th century for a number of stylistic reasons. The bar back became fashionable in the Late Empire Period and the shapely turned legs relate to later furniture designs by Georges Jacob (1739-1814).
