A Pair of 18th Century Louis XV Period Child’s Chairs

£3,800

SOLD

A rare pair of mid-18th century painted miniature fauteuil, both with upholstered cartouche backs, scrolling arms and over-stuffed seats and raised on cabriole legs.

These chairs were most probably made as apprentice pieces, or examples of furniture for travelling salesmen. They certainly belong to the luxury class of furniture and as such, may have formed part of a suite of furniture made for an aristocratic nursery.

One bearing a label for the collection of Mrs Leonard Hirsch – 1150 Park Avenue, New York.
