A Pair of Louis XV Style Bedside Cabinets or Night Stands
£2,800
SOLD
A finely veneered pair of kingwood bedside cabinets, with book matched veneers throughout, each having a central drawer above two doors which open to reveal a cupboard; all raised upon well formed cabriole legs, terminating in finely chased brass toe caps.
This pair of bedside tables was made at the turn of the twentieth century at a time when the wealthy classes sought to revive the magnificence of eighteenth century living. The Louis XV style was considered the most magnificent of design styles and cabinet makers once again were engaged in furnishing the grand houses of the early 1900s with elaborate pieces such as these bedside cabinets.
