Last week we took part in the Winter Olympia Art & Antiques Fair. This biannual event showcases the exciting discoveries of 100 of Europe’s best dealers and we were proud to present some of our latest acquisitions.
The stand focused primarily upon European portraiture from the 17th through to the early 19th centuries, incorporating works of historical importance by artists such as Thomas Beach and John Downman. Downman’s pencil and wash oval miniature of Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire provoked a great deal of interest, as did Theodore Roussel’s Portrait of King Charles I.
We adorned the stand floors with Irish George III and Regency period furniture which included a fine cross-banded breakfast table which we were delighted to sell.
For objects, we displayed a collection of Japanese and Chinese porcelain including this Kangxi Plate circa 1725
Another notable sales included this Neopolitan bronze of the Praying Boy circa 1820 which as gone to a private collector.
