Timothy Langston Fine Art & Antiques is showing Andrew Sinclair’s Work:
FILM IS ART: The Magical World of Andrew Sinclair 22nd – 26th of April 2015
For one week Timothy Langston is showing works by Andrew Sinclair. Pieces of art, history and film; of fantasy transport and the imagination of Surrealism; of cinematic movement as well as static poise will be played out on numerous stage sets at this Pimlico Road gallery. In providing a pictorial history of the 20th century, captured in miniature stage set boxes, the artist, novelist, historian, film-maker and director (of Under Milk Wood, starring Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and Peter O’Toole) celebrates the art of diorama. Inspired by the upcoming Wanderlust exhibition bearing works by Joseph Cornell (Royal Academy, Summer 2015), Sinclair, equal to his predecessor who has been described by the New York Times “a poet of light; an architect of memory-fractured rooms and a connoisseur of stars, celestial and otherwise”, enchants, moves and captures.
To celebrate the launch, Sinclair has directed three short films which are available to view on YouTube and via the exhibition site www.filmisart.com together with an interview, audio clips and other materials and the catalogue of his works.
