A Queen Anne Style Giltwood Girandole

A giltwood girandole with beveled mirror plate and having a brass candle arm.

This mirror dates to the end of the nineteenth century. The design is a close representation of one of the most recognisable forms in early eighteenth century English furniture: a shaped frame with corresponding beveled plate. This is most closely associated with furniture from the reigns of Queen Anne (who reigned from 1702-1714) and George I (1714-1726). This example closely follows earlier models in its scale and proportions. The brass candle arm has also been shaped and fashioned in the traditional eighteenth century manner.
